The first thing people might say about this year's Outside Lands, other than that this was the year they could get high legally for the first time, was that the weather was uncharacteristically warm for most of the weekend.

That — and well, yeah, that whole legal cannabis thing — made dancing at sets starring Childish Gambino, Flume, Anderson .Paak and Kygo a much more fun experience.

But in addition to the weed and weather, this was a year of more, ahem, highlights than lowlights.

Saturday headliner Childish Gambino (actor, musician and, dare we say, auteur Donald Glover) threw down for a ceaselessly energetic set, punctuated by anecdotes about his own connections to Oakland and the Bay Area. Rock stalwarts blink-182 and Counting Crows played the throwback hits. The city's finest food offerings operated throughout the festival grounds, and Beer Lands and Wine Lands brought some of the greater Bay Area's best drinks to the masses.

And, like a dream, music icon Paul Simon crooned hits from his decades of work to the Sunday crowd — and with a special cameo too. See some of our favorite highlights in the gallery above.
